About Sullivan Entertainment's Anne of Green Gables: The Continuing Story
Now in her twenties, Anne returns to Avonlea for the first time since Marilla Cuthbert's death. Gilbert has been offered a staff position at a hospital in New York, and persuades Anne to join him, for he has also arranged a position for her at a large publishing house.
But life in a big city isn't at all what they expected. Anne's manuscript is stolen by dashing American writer, Jack Garrison, and Gilbert becomes frustrated with the politics of working in a large city hospital. Anne convinces Gilbert to go home with her to Avonlea so that they can be married and put their disillusionment behind them.
When they return to Prince Edward Island, they find Green Gables in a sorry state and must also resign themselves to the fact that their future happiness will be affected by the war in Europe. Gilbert soon feels the pressure from the community and enlists as a medical officer. Anne returns to New York to continue her writing, but when Gilbert is listed as missing in action, she is compelled to set off to find him.
A bizarre twist of fate reunites Anne with Jack Garrison, now working as a war correspondent. He is travelling with a young French girl, Colette, and their baby son, Dominic. Our heroine reluctantly forms an alliance with the brash Garrison, because she needs his help with her search. Unbeknownst to the new Mrs. Blythe, her travel companion is keeping secrets from her that will affect more than the journey's outcome. Anne learns of Jack's role in an American intelligence effort to end the war.
As the war comes to a close, Anne searches for Gilbert far behind enemy lines in a German POW camp. She finds herself alone, in mortal danger and separated from the man she loves. Will Anne Shirley rise to the occasion? Will she be reunited with Gilbert? Will she ever return to Green Gables?
